Injury time goal secures win for Juventus

Play Football Academy   2   Juventus   3

A goal in injury time by Slaine Rudham sealed the match and the valuable points for Juventus at John Dory on Saturday afternoon.  The young Play Football team started off very well with their quick passing completely  outplaying our team.  They deservedly took the lead in the 8th minute when Bevan Kok netted from close range receiving a cross from the left, after poor defending by our team.  Chris Napier came close with a direct  free kick shortly thereafter.  In the 31st minute Innocent Nkosi equalised for us.  With 3 minutes left to the break  Play Football went ahead with a free header from Ryan Silvan left completely on his own.

Shortly after half  time Slaine Rudham nearly scored with a low shot which the opposing goalkeeper did well to turn past the upright.  Half way through the second half our keeper Jarrod had to be replaced after he was injured following a collision with an opposing forward.  Byron Nel should have scored when he received a through ball but shot straight at the keeper.  With six minutes remaining and our team mounting the pressure, Wonder Hlophe latched onto a good ball set up by substitute Cameron Smith.  There was no stopping Juventus now, as they fought for the winning goal, which came from Slaine Rudham receiving a well timed pass from Wonder Hlophe.
