L'Italia all'Aerospace & Defence 2012 a Pretoria

Il Sottosegretario di Stato alla Difesa, Filippo Milone, come abbiamo già riferito, ha partecipato l'altro giorno a Pretoria alla cerimonia di apertura di "Africa Aerospace and Defence 2012" (AAD). L'esposizione - la più importante manifestazione fieristica del Sud Africa e dell'intero continente sub-sahariano - è dedicata al comparto aeromobili, veicoli spaziali e difesa.
"Africa Aerospace and Defence 2012" costituisce una vetrina internazionale dell'innovazione tecnologica, che coinvolge i settori dell'aviazione civile e militare, dello spazio, della cosiddetta "homeland security", della gestione della crisi e dei servizi connessi. L'Italia è presente con un padiglione ufficiale.

Alenia Aermacchi partecipa in Sud Africa al Salone AFRICA Aerospace & Defence 2012
Alenia Aermacchi partecipa al salone AFRICA Aerospace & Defence 2012 in svolgimento presso la base aerea di Waterkloof nei pressi di Pretoria, Sud Africa.
L'azienda di Finmeccanica è presente al Salone con il suo C-27J, velivolo da trasporto tattico che ha già ottenuto successo commerciale nel continente con un primo ordine da parte del Marocco per 4 esemplari recentemente consegnati.
Al Salone sudafricano Alenia Aermacchi intende promuovere le proprie attività non solo nel campo dei velivoli da trasporto tattico, ma anche in quelli dei velivoli da pattugliamento marittimo e da addestramento per piloti militari.
Il mercato africano è potenzialmente molto interessante anche per il settore dei velivoli da trasporto regionale che vedono le società partecipate da Alenia Aermacchi, ATR e SuperJet International, attive nella promozione rispettivamente dei propri ATR 42 e ATR 72 e SSJ100.
Alenia Aermacchi ha una presenza consolidata sul mercato africano dove a partire dagli anni '60 ha consegnato a varie forze aeree oltre 750 velivoli tra addestratori SF-260 e velivoli da trasporto tattico G.222 e C-27J, senza contare i numerosi ATR in servizio con varie compagnie aeree locali. In Sud Africa in particolare, Alenia Aermacchi ha sviluppato negli anni una collaborazione industriale particolarmente significativa con la fornitura e la produzione su licenza da parte dell'Atlas Aircraft Corp. (oggi Denel) di oltre 250 velivoli da addestramento e da attacco leggero MB.326 in varie versioni, denominati localmente Impala Mk I e Mk II.
Africa Aerospace and Defence Exhibition and Airshow
More than 28 countries are showcasing their aircrafts' capabilities at the 7th Africa Aerospace and Defence exhibition and airshow, which kicked off at Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria on Wednesday.
Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula officially opened Africa's largest exhibition of air, sea and land capability, which is expected to attract thousands of local visitors and foreign tourists.
The exhibition, which was previously held at Air Force Base Ysterplaat in Cape Town in 2006, 2008 and 2010, returned to Waterkloof after extensive renovations and upgrades at the base.
The show features 12 national pavilions from India, Russia, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Belgium, China, USA, UK, Romania, Pakistan and Brazil.
According to the organisers, this year's event will have a positive impact on the local economy through tourism as well as the business deals that are expected to be concluded during and after the event.
This year’s exhibition, the seventh edition of the biennial event, has been attended by ministers of defence from Botswana, Italy, Egypt, Malaysia, Namibia, the People’s Republic of China, Tanzania, Ukraine, Thailand, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
AAD is made possible by a partnership between the Armaments Corporation of South Africa SOC Ltd (Armscor), South Africa’s Aerospace, Maritime and Defence Industry Association (AMD) and the Commercial Aviation Association of Southern Africa (CAASA), with full support from the Department of Defence and the active support of the Department of Trade & Industry, the Department of Transport and Department of Science & Technology.
Since its inception in 2000, the event has grown drastically and serves the interests of both civilian and military sectors. It has established itself as a major platform for South Africa’s defence, general aviation, space, homelands security, humanitarian relief, disaster management, freight and forwarding services as well as search and rescue technology industries and stakeholders. It is the largest exhibition of air, land and sea capabilities on the African continent.
The exhibition features 11 national pavilions including United States, China, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Russia, India, Switzerland, Romania and the United Kingdom and are expected to stimulate business for local and international companies involved in the growing defence, general aviation and security industries.
The open days have featured vehicle demonstrations and exhibitions. There has been also a youth development programme (YDP), where learners and student experienced the world of flight simulators, vehicle simulators and model building. They also interacted with high tech simulators and information from role models on future career in the world of aerospace and defence. Industry representatives were on hand to provide more information about careers in the aerospace and defence industries.
